American Heart Association Omaha-Council Bluffs Start! Heart Walk

WHO: The American Heart Association, Omaha-Council Bluffs Metro Area

WHAT: A Children’s Mile

WHERE: ConAgra Foods Campus, 10th & Harney – Downtown Omaha

WHEN: Saturday – May 15, 2010 (Rain or Shine)

8:30 a.m.   Check-in

9:00 a.m.   Children’s Walk (1 mile)

10:00 a.m. Start! Heart Walk (4 miles)

WHY: Because HEART problems know no age!  When it comes to cardiac care, our tendency is to think about older adults – heart attack or stroke victims – not children and infants.

The Children’s Mile will educate the children of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metro area on the benefits of a heart healthy lifestyle and represent the life saving research of the American Heart Association by honoring children with congenital heart defects.  Funds raised support local medical research and educational programs of the American Heart Association.

HOW: Send in a $10 registration fee and the registration form by Friday, April 23rd* to participate in the Children’s Mile, receive a Children’s Mile T-shirt and attend the after-walk celebration. Download the registration form at http://omahaheartwalk.kintera.org/faf/home/ccp.asp?ievent=317677&lis=1&kntae317677=356F6C5D094844C69E10345041776D83&ccp=31338

Parents and families are encouraged to participate in the Heart Walk (log on to www.omahaheartwalk.com) by forming a team in honor of their child and collecting donations.  Start! Heart Walk participants earn prizes based on the amount of donations raised and teams may qualify for special awards.

(*Children’s Hospital & Medical Center is not able to provide t-shirts for late registrations)
